Database Administrator (DBA)

Dealer.com is seeking a DBA to join our Systems Engineering team supporting all of our database technologies (e.g. MySQL, MongoDB, SolR, ElasticSearch) in our mission-critical web farm.  We are looking for an individual with considerable MySQL savvy who has a proven track record designing, building, scaling, tuning, and maintaining databases found in a large web hosting environment. This individual needs to be a quick learner who is security-minded.  The individual we are seeking will help us support our thousands of hosted customers utilizing the latest and greatest open source technologies.In this role you will:

• Create standards for database implementations
• Work with engineering to ensure that queries are performant
• Evaluate project requirements, and derive standards based solutions
• Define KPIs and thresholds to trend and anticipate scaling needs
• Mentor junior staff and lead by example
• Contribute to the outstanding culture at Dealer.com

 Requirements:

• 3-5 years Database Administration (some MySQL experience mandatory)
• Minimum of 2 year degree, or equivalent, and 3 + years of relevant IT experience
• Fluent in SQL, able to understand complex queries
• Deep experience with the following technologies:
  • Database replication
  • Database tuning/optimization
  • High Availability
  • Disaster Recovery
  • SQL
• Must be solid in one or more scripting languages
• Must understand the appropriate use cases, advantages and disadvantages of:
  • RDBMS
  • Document Databases
  • Search and Index Servers
  • Data caching
  • Load balancing

Nice-to-haves:

• Linux administration
• Certifications a plus, MySQL, etc.
