Director, Continuous Process Improvement - Supply Chain

SUMMARY: The Director of Supply Chain Continuous
Process Improvement (CPI) is responsible for leading Continuous
Process Improvement (CPI) Culture, Systems and Programs across the
Supply Chain Operations in order to accomplish measurable business
process breakthroughs and improvements. Leads efforts to build
organizational capabilities and assist with the implementation of
ongoing process management mechanisms and provides facilitation
support for senior level management to drive effective discussion
and resolution of issues.



SUPERVISORY
RESPONSIBILITIES: Actively coach and mentor team of direct
reports and provide matrixed leadership to the Continuous Process
Improvement (CPI) Managers and Facilitators across the plants.



ESSENTIAL
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Work closely with key partners to facilitate strategic
    direction that aligns business practices, develop processes,
    provides data and evaluates metrics related to the success of
    business goals utilizing Strategy Deployment thinking.

  • Collaborate with the leadership teams and key process owners
    across the organization to plan, lead and implement strategic,
    business improvement processes, policies and procedures.

  • Partner with functional leaders and management staff to assess
    current processes and identify process improvement
    opportunities.

  • Manage a robust review process for selecting, scoping and
    prioritizing Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) initiatives.

  • Lead large, complex cross-functional projects across the
    multi-site organization that drive measurable/quantifiable
    improvements in Key Performance Indicators (KPI) resulting in
    significant, tangible cost reduction - Actively participate as
    member of SCBU Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) Steering
    Committee.

  • Serve as an overall change agent and leader promoting
    innovative thinking and a Continuous Process Improvement (CPI)
    mindset throughout the organization.

  • Design and develop documentation procedures and standard
    protocols in partnership with our Supply Chain Quality team, Supply
    Chain Documentation, Enterprise Program Management Office, Legal,
    Continuous Learning, Continuous Process Improvement, Research &
    Development, Information, Systems & Technology, Maintenance
    & Engineering etc. for all processes; ensure all old and new
    processes are documented accordingly.

  • Act as a technical advisor on best practices by performing
    research and planning for future business initiatives and
    needs.

  • Use systematic disciplined and database approach that gets to
    the root cause to solve problems.

  • Communicate with business leaders to evaluate and analyze
    business needs.

  • Use Lean tools and methodologies to drive business process
    excellence and deliver business results.

  • Provide training in the application of continuous process
    improvement, problem-solving techniques, Continuous Process
    Improvement (CPI) concepts & tools, and team facilitation.

  • Prove linkage of key performance indicators to business process
    effectiveness.

  • Provide internal communications on business improvement
    processes, initiatives and results.

  • Manage SC Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) budgeting and
    expenses.

OTHER
NECESSARY FUNCTIONS:


  • Responsible for coordination, evaluation, and continuous
    improvement of the department/team across the Supply Chain and
    creating a positive climate where people want to do their
    best.

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the
    organizations Principles, policies and applicable laws.

  • Accountable for communication, interviewing, hiring, and
    training of employees; planning, assigning and directing work,
    leveraging team and individual strengths, managing performance;
    rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and
    solving problems to ensure high performance results within their
    own direct team, across the Supply Chain functions and in
    partnership with Plant Directors to support matrixed site
    Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) team member
    relationships.

  • Follows all policies, procedures, ergonomic standards and
    safety requirements directed by GMCR and the department.

  • Position will require regular travel in support of Continuous
    Process Improvement (CPI) initiatives across Supply Chain
    teams.

  • Performs other duties as requested by management.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • BS/BA required (Science, Engineering preferred).

  • 8+ years work experience in business analysis, quality and or
    performance improvement function. Experience in a CPG, food
    manufacturing environment strongly preferred.

  • Hands-on application of Operational Excellence concepts
    (Strategy Deployment, VSM, TWI, 3P, TPM, SMED, and Poka-Yoke for
    processes ranging from shop-floor to back-office) in industry with
    accountability for results.

  • Must have demonstrated real success in delivering significant
    business benefits though the redesign and streamlining of processes
    across an organization.

  • Knowledge of improvement principles and planning, as well as
    understanding and appreciation for the dynamics of organizational
    change.

  • High interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills - Advanced
    facilitation and communication skills.

  • Demonstrated skill to persuade/influence directly and
    indirectly-both internally and externally to the function.

  • Financial acumen and rapid diagnostic commercial skills.

Preferred
Qualifications:


  • Advanced Degree (MS/MBA).

  • Lean, Six Sigma and/or other Change Management
    certifications.

  • Exceptional communication, influence and leadership skills,
    with a clear bias for action.

  • Demonstrated success in leading organizational and cultural
    change.

  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the
    organization, as well as teach and present complex and/or new ideas
    with clarity and simplicity.

  • Ability to influence with or without authority, facilitate
    groups with diverse perspectives and bring teams to
    consensus/alignment.

  • Detailed knowledge Operational Excellence principles (beyond a
    tools & techniques approach).

  • Facile with broad range of quality and process improvement
    tools and problem solving tools).

  • Superior facilitation, communication, and consultative
    skills.

  • Excellent project management, planning and prioritization
    skills, along with the ability to multitask and adapt.

  • Ability to uphold Safety standards and follow our Manufacturing
    best practices.

  • Ability to get along with others, be punctual, and follow
    instructions.

  • Ability to follow GMCR policies and procedures as well as our
    Operating principles.

PHYSICAL
REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:


  • Predominately sedentary light office position with high
    frequency of keyboarding/computer work required (67% - 100% of the
    workday).
